Homeless

These are American refugees.

They are the personification of systemic failures.

Crowding city sidewalks, under bridges, and the sides of highways, they are everywhere.

Every neighborhood is Skid Row.

With the passing of each year, the numbers swell.

The system is far from fixed.

Urban problems are becoming suburban challenges.

We can all define poverty now.

Attitudes are changing.

Tolerance and willingness appear in a closing window.

There isn’t much time.

There never is.

Patience feels like lightning in a bottle.

It is nearly impossible to capture.

Homelessness in LA is a generational challenge.

The electorate expects overnight results.

We were supposed to be better than this.

This city can be of no good unless it is good for everyone.

Be good to each other,

Nathan
