Walls and wood, steel and screws…
Not our first apartment, but one we chose together.
From here, we would do battle with the City of Angels.
We weren’t seeking to conquer and erect kingdoms.
A pursuit was before us.
We were meant to build a life together.
The scars from the battle were almost immediate.
Exit wounds never cleaned.
Los Angeles wasn’t equal in her gifts.
The castle was partially abandoned.
A night passed and the brave one was gone.
The quest was a solo adventure now.
Just an apartment in North Hollywood.
Just mine.
