Musical Thesis: Death Cab for Cutie "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes"

At the center of every album is a musical thesis. "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes" by Death Cab for Cutie is beautifully unpolished. It feels real and raw; like the beginning to a first draft to a love letter. The bravery to publish something like this is gone from today's music. We never get to hear a band or artist develop their sound. Instead, more often than not we are treated to cookie cutter pop sounds created by machines or basic melodies repeated over and over. On this album, we get none of that. In its place, we are treated to a band's honest attempt. For me, this a relief and something I wish the rock and roll world embrace once again.
