Musical Thesis: First Aid Kit "The Lion's Roar"

At the center of every album is a musical thesis. First Aid Kit's "The Lion's Roar" is an ode to those who came before, constructed from beautiful harmonies, and sold as something both new and old. The only way to achieve this aim is with classic songwriting focused on poetic, yet simple lyrics delivering the listener to the heart of the message. This approach flies in the face of most modern music, but that may ultimately be what this album is trying to do. This Swedish duo has seen a path in the woods and is beckoning us down a different road. Foundational albums can do this. While this is far from a groundbreaking record, it is worth paying attention to and remembering where you were and when you first heard it.
