Cinephile No. 516 "Spy"

In her own way, Melissa McCarthy channels both Chris Farley and John Belushi's physical comedy in "Spy." Which is about the highest compliment I can pay any comedian trying to make it in Hollywood. Seriously, she has a way of commanding the screen just as well as her male counterparts and her performance in "Spy" is no different. While the story isn't necessarily a unique one, her approach is. In every scene she breathes confidence, even in the ones where she isn't playing a confident character. This is evidence of someone coming into her own and beginning to perfect her craft. I, for one, am excited to see where this road takes us. The evolution of Melissa McCarthy will be one worth watching.

Thanks for entering my world,
