Thankful

It is easy to be thankful when the season and the month of November call for it. I would rather take a year round approach. So, here are 15 things for which I am thankful.

  1. The bit of belly fat that hangs over my jeans. You make me hate myself. Hate gets me to the gym.
  2. Hollywood. You, the den of iniquity, give me an escape.
  3. Coca-Cola. Coke has my heart and whiskey has my liver.
  4. Scientology. Making a perfect case for rational thought.
  5. Books. Love reading about other people's depressing lives.
  6. Money. The root of most of my happiness.
  7. Travel. Because we all need an escape.
  8. Bacon. What are you doing this weekend?
  9. Weddings. You are the most depressing thing on the planet. I love the motivation.
  10. Holidays. You are the second most depressing thing on the planet. I love the motivation.
  11. Grammar Nazis. Cause we all need something to hate.
  12. Jerry Sandusky. See above.
  13. Lindsay Lohan. You make the insane seem functional.
  14. Starbucks. You are like a legal drug dealer.
  15. Mom and Dad. Thanks for making the magic happen.

Thanks for entering my world,

-Nathan

Nathan Box
Hello! My name is Nathan. I've always believed I would meet that special someone in one of two places; either a record store or a book store. Maybe I need to amend? I moved to Seattle in February of 2011 from Oklahoma City (Try and not hold the Sonics/Thunder thing against me). I knew I wanted to work for a nonprofit and go to grad school. Within a couple of months, I was doing both. During the day, I work as a Fund Developer and Community Relations Manager for a nonprofit in Kent and at night I try to stay as busy as possible volunteering, trying new restaurants, finding hidden bars and exploring Seattle. The past few years has been both terrifying and exhilarating. I have done things on my own I didn’t think were within my capability. I love being outdoors. On any given weekend, I can be found hiking, on a road trip, volunteering, at a museum, seeing a movie (I see a lot of them). I am passionate about nonprofit work. I feel called to leave a mark on this world. Nothing against those who enjoy making tons of money, I just need to know I am making a difference.
