At the center of every album is a musical thesis. Beach House's "Depression Cherry" carries an ambience all its own. At times, it is both hypnotic and disillusioning. It achieves more with less than most bands ever could. There is also an aching sound here that shouldn't be. I say this, because the lyrics and arrangements are so sparse, yet there it is. It is present in every song even those that feel somewhat uplifting. To achieve this level of emotion and minimalism might be the thesis here. Bands and artists are often over-produced in an effort to make you feel something. In this album, Beach House reaches our hearts through simplicity.
Be good to each other,
