At the center of every album is a musical thesis. The thesis for "Being There" is about being present. For me, this is powerful. It is also a demonstration of rock in its purest form. Rock can be so much more than noise. At its richest, it can move you to analyze your own life. Wilco achieves this better than most. More often than not, they get us there with powerful stories that make you set up, turn up the stereo and pay attention. They remind us of those moments when you were listening attentively to your grandfather, because you knew and exchange was happening. Lucky for me, with a rewind, Wilco repeats the lesson. Music should move you. Like a good movie or a powerful conversation with someone you love, you should grow with each spin of a record. This is why I appreciate this band. There is always something new to learn.
Thanks for entering my world,
